Case Studies
A North London living room, reworked around family life
Brief: refresh a well-loved living room to bring warmth and personality back in, while keeping it working as both a relaxing & play space suitable for a young child — including practical toy storage and curtains for winter draught exclusion, built around the existing sofa, loveseat and cabinetry.
Approach: introduced cooler blue tones against warm yellows and oranges to complement the existing artwork and velvet cushions, anchored the whole scheme around an antique suzani wall hanging, and balanced the room with layered lighting, a large ottoman doubling as a play surface, and mixed vintage textures — rattan, bone inlay, glass.
A farmhouse living room, before and after
Before: a lived-in reception room with mismatched furniture, a plain fireplace, and no real focal point.
Approach: redesigned around a large antique suzani as the room's anchor piece, paired with a deep green linen sofa, hand-picked vintage kilim rug and cushions, and warm burgundy joinery — an eclectic but cohesive scheme built from a mix of vintage and new pieces, with fabric and colour choices tied back to the suzani throughout.
A guest bedroom for two
Brief: fit a king-size bed with storage and two bedside tables into a room with no curtains, so the textiles needed to do the warming work instead.
Approach: chose slim glass bedside tables to keep the space feeling open, layered reds, pinks and orange accents to balance a blue patterned headboard fabric, and brought in vintage bamboo storage and a made-to-size rug — finished with a mix of velvet, embroidered and kilim cushions.
Remote colour and layout consultancy, for a client in Belgium
Brief: help a client abroad choose a kitchen paint scheme to sit alongside existing white and blue tiles and a bold red island, plus work out the best rug layout for a bedroom that needed to serve as both a sleeping and a desk/work zone.
Approach: talked through several Farrow & Ball palette options for walls, ceiling and woodwork to balance the room's low ceilings and limited natural light against the existing colours, and mapped out multiple rug configurations — including natural jute versus sisal — to visually divide the bed and desk areas without needing to see the room in person.
